Biography
Vasile Chisiu was born in Medias (Romania). He studied Opera Singing at the Bucharest University of Music and at the Conservatory of Trapani, Italy.
In 2005, still studying, baritone Vasile Chisiu debuted at the National Opera of Bucharest as Enrico Ashton (G.Donizetti, Lucia di Lamermoor) and was employed as a permanent Soloist.
Since then he appeared on stage of the National Opera of Bucharest and other European Opera Theatres in more than 20 roles (Rigoletto, Nabucco, Il Conte di Luna, Germont, Amonasro, Simon Boccanegra, Alfio, Tonio, Carlo Gerard, Enrico Ashton, Yeletsky, Renato, Ping, Gianni Schicci, Schaunard, Gasparo, Peter etc.)
Vasile Chisiu´s international career started in Italy in 2010, with Carlo Gerard from U. Giordano’s “Andrea Chenier” (Soragna di Parma), followed by numerous Rigoletto performances at the Theatre Derby, Milan and on the tour "Il Carro di Tespi" 2011 in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions and in Zara (Croatia).

In 2013 Vasile Chisiu debuted as Simon Boccanegra (conductors P.Tamas and G.Sandor) at the Szeged National Opera, Hungary (Armel Opera Festival). Performance was directly broadcasted on Arte Live Web.
Since 2014 the Romanian baritone is a regular guest performer at Winslow Hall Opera Festival, UK, where he has sung Enrico Ashton in "Lucia di Lammermoor" (G.Donizetti), Renato in “Un Ballo in Maschera” and Il Conte di Luna in Verdi´s "Il Trovatore" (Conductor – O.Gilmour).
In 2015 Vasile Chisiu appeared as Yeletsky in "The Queen of Spades" ("Pique Dame") of P.I.Tchaikovsky at Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, Austria (Stage Director – Th.Strassberger, Conductor – F.Angelico).
In the season 2017-2018 Vasile Chisiu sang Rigoletto and Tonio (“I Pagliacci” of Leoncavallo) at Iasi National Opera, Enrico (Donizetti "Lucia di Lammermoor"), Amonasro (Verdi “Aida”) and Rigoletto at Constanta Opera Theatre. He sang Tonio at Bucharest National Opera and Alfio (“Cavalleria Rusticana”of Mascagni) at Brasov Opera Theatre.
In the season 2019-2020 Vasile Chisiu appeared as G.Germont (G.Verdi "Traviata") at Brasov Opera Theatre. In October 2019 he made a premiere of Il Trovatore (role Il Conte di Luna) in Odessa National Opera Theatre, Ucraine and with this production he appeared in Chassé Theater Breda, Holland. In Capitole Gent and Concertgebouw Brugge (Belgium) he sang a title role of Verdi´s "Nabucco" with Odessa National Opera production.
